2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover designed to zip around town. It features a surprisingly spacious rear seat for a small SUV, and the cabin has nice materials and comes well-equipped with tech features. For the 2022 model year, the Trailblazer LT gains the option for a heated steering wheel, and it now comes standard for the higher trims. Chevy also made roof rack cross rails and a trailering package available as dealer-installed options, and the exterior paint palette gains some new colors.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Trailblazer LS comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, body-colored door handles, power-adjustable mirrors with black caps, automatic headlights, and black and dark gray lower body trim. Step up to the LT for a silver-painted front and rear fascia, silver roof rails, and high-gloss 17-inch alloy wheels. The Trailblazer Activ adds Sport Terrain tires, black roof rails, and the option for a two-tone painted roof. It also adds LED taillights and dual-outlet exhaust with polished tips. At the top of the lineup, the RS has a sporty exterior design with blacked-out trim and a black or crimson roof.
Chevy offers the Sun and Liftgate Package for most trims, which will get you a panoramic sunroof and a hands-free liftgate.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Trailblazer is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder that puts out 137 horsepower. It uses a continuously variable automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an option if you choose the 1.3-liter turbo gas engine. This powertrain delivers 155 horsepower and uses a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The base engine has plenty of power for propelling the small Trailblazer around town. If you want the extra traction you get with all-wheel drive, you'll need the turbo 1.3-liter engine. This powertrain offers all-wheel drive as an option. Drivers will appreciate the responsive steering in the Trailblazer that makes it easy to zip around city streets, and its small size means it can slip into small parking spots.
Interior
There's room for up to five in the Trailblazer. It has a traditional shifter, and the controls for the climate and audio are within easy reach of the driver. A fold-flat front passenger seat comes standard, and if you bump up to the LT, you'll get heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Simulated leather upholstery comes in the Activ, and you can get automatic climate control in the LT and above.
The technology features start with a 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo. The Convenience Package adds an 8-inch touch screen, a household-style power outlet, and rear USB ports, while the optional Technology Package adds wireless smartphone charging and a Bose stereo system.
Safety Features
Every Trailblazer comes with a rearview camera, a forward-collision warning system with mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beam headlights. The available Driver Confidence Package adds a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, while the Convenience Package adds an auto-dimming rearview camera. Opting for the Technology Package will get you adaptive cruise control and a high-resolution rearview camera.
