2022 Chevrolet Colorado
The Chevrolet Colorado offers drivers the capability and versatility of a truck without the bulk of a full-size pickup. Its size makes it easy to maneuver around town while still providing strong towing and hauling power. For the 2022 model year, the Colorado gains the Trail Boss Package with some extra off-road equipment and black exterior accents.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The base Colorado is the Work Truck. It has Chevy's CornerStep rear bumper, a locking tailgate, 17-inch painted steel wheels, and manually adjustable side exterior mirrors. Step up to the LT for 17-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, and the EZ Lift remote-locking tailgate. Choose the Z71 for the off-road suspension package, heated exterior mirrors, all-terrain tires, and projector beam headlights, or the ZR2 for larger all-terrain tires, a spray-in bed liner, fender flares, and upgraded front and rear bumpers.
The new Trail Boss Package adds 17-inch gloss black wheels, skid plates, a 1-inch leveling kit, and black exterior trim elements.
Engine (Power)
Power for the Colorado WT comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 200 horsepower. This Colorado comes standard with rear-wheel drive. A 3.6-liter V-6 powers all the crew cab models and will get you 308 horsepower. This engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. A 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 369 pound-feet of torque is also available.
Performance
When equipped with the tow package and the V-6, the Colorado can tow up to 7,000 pounds. Opt for the diesel engine, and this number increases to 7,700 pounds. Even the base model with the four-cylinder engine can tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is plenty for small jobs. The V-6 is an excellent choice. It is quick and responsive, getting the Colorado up to 60 mph in just over six seconds.
Interior
Depending on the cab, there's room for up to six people in the Colorado. The cabin has a simple, streamlined design with high-quality materials. Cloth upholstery comes standard in the WT, and you'll get a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel in the LT, which also adds a power-adjustable driver's seat with a recline feature. The Z71 adds automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, while the ZR2 adds power-adjustable passenger seats and leather upholstery for the front seats. Full leather upholstery is an available option depending on the trim.
The tech features start with a 7-inch touch screen, two USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Colorado Work Truck also has a six-speaker stereo system. There's an 8-inch touch screen in the LT, which also has navigation, a seven-speaker Bose stereo, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Colorado has a rearview camera, a full suite of air bags, and a Teen Driver mode that allows primary drivers to monitor and set limits for teen drivers. The LT offers the option for the Safety Package, which has forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and a rear park assist system. The Z71 adds rear parking sensors and hill descent control.
